It is the perfect weekend breakfast casserole, or make this for the holidays. Everyone loves a sweet treat Christmas morning. So delicious with the Caramel Apple Jam, the most popular post on my website with more than 41,500 shares!
1 small loaf of any bread, cut into cubes
8 large farm fresh eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup caramel apple jam
2 tbls butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbls maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup toasted pecans, chopped
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray, or grease well. Dot pan with butter. Cut bread into cubes and place in pan over butter.
In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with milk, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg and pour over bread cubes. Spoon in caramel apple jam and stir well. Spoon maple syrup evenly over top.
Sprinkle top with pecans and bake 40 minutes or until cooked through and set.
Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with butter and maple syrup if desired, but you may find you don't need it.
