Caramel Apple French Toast Casserole

This French Toast Casserole is the BEST I've ever made. I love making it in the Fall, but it can be enjoyed any time of the year.

It is the perfect weekend breakfast casserole, or make this for the holidays. Everyone loves a sweet treat Christmas morning. So delicious with the Caramel Apple Jam, the most popular post on my website with more than 41,500 shares!

RECIPE

Ingredients
1 small loaf of any bread, cut into cubes
8 large farm fresh eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup caramel apple jam (or one crunchy apple peeled, diced, and combined with 2 tbs brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon)
2 tbs butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbs maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup toasted pecans, chopped

Method
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 11x7-inch baking dish with cooking spray, or grease well. Dot pan with butter. Cut bread into cubes and place in pan over butter.

In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg and pour over bread cubes. Spoon in caramel apple jam and stir well. Spoon maple syrup evenly over top.

Sprinkle top with pecans and bake 40 minutes or until cooked through and set.

Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with butter and maple syrup if desired, but you may find you don't need it.

Cooks note - for 13x9 pan increase eggs to 10-12 (depending on size of eggs), 3/4 cup milk and a cup or two more bread cubes (but you may not need any more). Adjust all seasonings to taste.

Enjoy,
Mary
